There is a string of letter and numbers at the bottom of the screen-it doesn't stay on long generally, so you may need to restart a few times to get it all > > Find the Bios Brand(usually Phoenix or Award) and > version number. > > Write all this down. > > Then pass it on to us. Hopefully we can knock our > heads together and dig up some more info. This is where the Belarc Advisor comes into it's own ..download that and you should get all this information. you'll have to get the BIOS in order first so it is 'seeing' your floppy. If the floppy doesn't work, but you can get the CD Rom running- if you have CD writer in another computer, you could write it (And anything else you want to install) and install that way > > This will be a great learning experience... Big fun..I love playing about with 'old' computer technology...Best tip, if you are faced with anything you don't know, type it into Google, chances are, you'll get something back!!! Andy PS..I'd lay off upgrading to W98 until you know the full specs...you might be better leaving 95 on it To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
