I have deleted the Deleted Items.dbx file a bunch of times and have not had
any problems.. I am running Windows XP and OE 6 with all the updates and
patches from Microsoft.

mine is version 2.0 -
possibly the same as that web site, as that is where I got it the last time
I downloaded it.
so - it is definitely ok in OE6 - and XP to delete your deleted dbx folder?
I used to do that all of the time on my old system, but I had heard it was
questionable in OE 6, so I've never done it.

We'll have to find a more current link to the program !

I could not tell from the link what version of cleanup this is...but the
current version is 3.1.

I have used this program for a couple of years and love it.

It scared the heck out of me the first time I ran it...It ran for what
seemed like hours..and cleaned up over 1.5 gb of 'junk'. (I really think it
was 3.5 GB, but I am just not sure. What a difference it makes!

The new version allows you to add directories to it that you would like to
have cleaned up/deleted when you run the program. It is very easy to
customize and run.

It typically runs from 15-45 seconds each night before I shut down. But, if
I have been very busy, it may run longer.

One thing I have noticed is that my Deleted Items.dbx file does not get
deleted ever!. I have OE set up to delete mail in the deleted folder when I
shut down OE. The mail does not appear in the folder, but it there is still
a Deleted Items.dbx file that continues to grow in the folder with all the
.dbx files for OE.

So, I have added a line to Cleanup - In the Customize box, to delete the
Deleted Items.dbx file . There is no harm in doing that as when you open
OE, it creates a new Deleted Items.dbx file.

I cannot say enough good things about Cleanup. I recommend it to everyone
every chance I get.
