 thanks for the help....

 >>>
Does the NES USB adaptor come with any drivers, if not you may need some
from the manufactories web site, worth a look for that. if not I am sure
it
wood work fine when XP is installed, and the updates are applied as
well.>>
This came with a floppy disk, so that I assume has the drivers on it, on
the printed install directions, it says it is XP compatibale , so I will
hope for the best.

You will possible need a new copy of Roxio EZ CD, which you can either buy
new or try to find a good deal on version 5, it will also include Direct
CD as well.>>
this is the versions that came preinstalled on the computer when bought,
so I don't know if I would be able to get an upgrade, but will price a
newer version....
>>>>
Music match, make sure you have a copy of your licence key, and if
possible reload it, and then see if it will work, and if you can update it
or upgrade it for free or a small fee to the newest version.>>
this came preinstalled, and I am not that worried about this, as I do not
use it. I think windows media player is also installed.
>>>>>
I have no idea what Quick Link is, sorry. If it comes with your PC may be
worth a look at the manufactories web site and see if they have a newer
version, that will run with XP.>>
I do not use this either, I believe it is installed software for sme fax
capablilties that cam installed on this HP.
>>>>

It is not so likely the CD ROM or the DVD ROM will not work. XP is pretty
good for that, and when you load the
software for watching DVD's etc, it should auto detect it and work fine.
It should also work fine for reading disc's too.>>
This would probably be to big of an exspense for me at this time to
replace, so I hope it will work ?!!!
>>>>>>
keyboard manager again check manufactures web site for updated drivers
etc, especially for XP.>>
Not to worried about this one...
>>>>>

Logitech Optical wireless mouse-ware again download newest version of
Logitech's site.>>
will check it out !

AVG just reinstall the latest version of the free one and update it fast.

Hope that helps a little,

Trevnal

Thanks again... I think I will take it to a local techie & see what he
thinks, maybe he call install it & if it doesn't work, leave the old

to all who answered my call 4 help regarding upgrading to XP from ME...

I download the XP advisor & the report was ...
hardware that may need additional files :
Universal serial bus controller, NES PCI to USB enhanced host controller..
which I determine to be the internal USB 2.o 5-port PCI card I had my son
install for me. the box says it requires windows 98se or higher.

Software that must be reinstalled :
DirectCD 3, has a known compatibility issue with XP... ( Roxio)
Easy CD Creator 4 ( Roxio)
Musicmatch jutebox
Quicklink III

All above came preinstalled on my system when bought. they may be on my
recovery disks ???
I do use my CD burner & DVD drive, so I would want to keep them & not buy
new ...
It also mentions that my DVD movie player may be incompatible & may need
an upgrade.
CD-rom drive brand- Mitsumi CR-4804TE CD-ROM ( cd writer plus)
DVD brand- Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1402

Incompatible hardware issues :
keyboard manager ( on start menu)
another item preinstalled. right now I do not use this feature.
Logitech Optical wireless mouseware added by me & still would like to use.

Software that might not be compatible :

AVG control center ( a startup program) the antivirus I downloaded from
the net.

My question is... are these things I can just get downloaded from the net
for free? Or would I have to buy new hardware, ect??
I know I can reload the AVG.

Thanks again for all your help.

Faythe
