Lacey, I too manage just fine with only the XP burning software. So far I have successfully burned document backups, audio and video files. It's simple in that you just right click on a file and choose Send To... the CD burner drive. The instructions are very clear and simple after that. The only thing I did was to go in and lower the burning speed. Even the movies only took a few minutes on a very low speed. What I haven't been able to do at this late hour is find the program, but it does open automatically when you right-click Send to CD, and I remember the properties were intuitive. I also haven't installed WinZip yet, but don't think I've bothered trying to zip anything. hth, Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lacey" <stormy1@xxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2003 8:16 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- The first of many WinXP Questions | Well I guess its show time! This new computer I've been mentioning is being picked up tomorrow morning and I'm supposed to go set it up and show them how to use it! Its got WinXP home installed on it, and as I was planning out what I will need to show these people who are pretty much techno-weenies..... I was thinking of CD-burning software. | My favorite is Nero and I was going to recommend that they use that one as opposed to Roxio Easy CD Creator.... but then it occurred to me ..... didn't I hear somewhere along the way that WinXP has its own CD burning software built-in? Or that you don't need a third-party CD-burning program? | | And what about Winzip? I seem to remember hearing that WinXP has that kinda built-in too.... | | If someone could brief me on these first two questions ASAP then I can go there and be able to appear to be fairly intelligent tomorrow morning. | | Anything else or any other surprises I'm likely to encounter? Their internet isn't hooked up until next week so I will deal with the setting up DSL issues after I'm over the initial hump | | Thanks in advance, | Lacey | | | To unsub or change your email settings: | //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk | | To access our Archives: | http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ | //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ | | For more info: | //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk | | To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
