Mike, F8 is usually Safe mode. Here's some listings for different machines to get into their BIOS....there are several for Dell she might try. The first thing I would look at is it's boot order and it if the first boot drive is something other than A: then check that drive to see if anything in it. You must do this during the first few seconds after you turn on power. If you see the windows startup, it's too late. Dell=Ctrl-Alt-Enter Dell=Reset(Twice) PS/2=Ctrl-Alt-? Not sure about how you do that on a Dell, usually it means hitting the F8 or some other key at startup to go into the setup screen. It should tell her what key to use to access setup when she reboots. If you know a little about computers yourself, you can try it on your computer and maybe guide her thru it. An option for her to check the drive is to install another floppy and see if that works, but I suspect that she may be out of her element? nightsneak To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
