Mike, If she can get to the BIOS screen, she can change her options to not look at the floppy drive first. Not sure about how you do that on a Dell, usually it means hitting the F8 or some other key at startup to go into the setup screen. It should tell her what key to use to access setup when she reboots. If you know a little about computers yourself, you can try it on your computer and maybe guide her thru it. An option for her to check the drive is to install another floppy and see if that works, but I suspect that she may be out of her element? nightsneak ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike" <m.schell@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 5:18 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Startup problem | | Thanks Peter and Linda, | | A quick phone call to NY confirmed that there is no floppy in her floppy | drive. | I have a feeling that this means "bad news". | | Mike | | | Peter Strisik wrote: | | >First thing to check is whether there is a disk in her floppy drive. | >Most systems are set up to boot from the floppy first, if no disk there, | >then to other drives. | > | >.........Peter To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
