I tried SpamPal prior to using K9. What I didn't like about SpamPal (unless its changed) is that it uses those damn lists, and at the most aggresive setting it caught to many false-positives (for those that don't know what that means, it marked mail as SPAM when indeed it was not SPAM). But, to be fair, that was at the highest settings. But, if you're telling me now that they have the Bayesian plug-in, I may have to look into it, assuming I can turn off the other options. K9, however, works great so far. ---Troth ----- Original Message ----- From: David Weaver To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2003 2:13 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Spam Filters: REVISISTED Troth, I too used K9 till my old laptop bit the dust. The one I'm trying now is SpamPal which uses the old-fashioned "normal methods" but also has the ability (thru a plugin) to use Bayesian filtering techniques. Pretty interesting. You may want to check it out. K9 uses Bayesian filters as well, and I'm happy to report that the SPAM has gotten less and less... to the point of almost zero. While I haven't tried POPFile and SpamBayes, I encourage anyone wanted to do so, and ask that you drop a line here and let me (or us) know your results with it. Although I so far love K9, if there's something better, I'd love to have it. ---Troth To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
