Do you have anything running in the taskbar? Also turn off all
screensavers. Anything writing to the hard drive will cause this.

No, but there seems to be a plethora of things displayed if I press CTRL -
ALT - DEL. END TASKing all of them causes a lock up. Where would I go to
turn off the auto loading of all this?
