Thanks. For some reason I never saw CNET in my search results. After
reading the review I decided the lack of anti-spam and anti-adware make it a
poor choice since I like my security wrapped up in a single bundle.
I'll go visit Steve anyway since it has been a long time since I was there.

I don't know how truly independent it is, but you can read one at

use more than one anti-spyware program.
Steve Gibson (who, in my opinion, is the best malware expert) has referenced
MS Security Essentials several times in his podcasts . . . see the
transcripts or listen to episodes 202, 208, 216, and 218 at
