Hi GMan, thanks for your reply.  I did try reinstalling Windows; I spent all
of Friday night trying that with no success at all.  I finally couldn't take
it anymore, and today I went out and got a new computer.  I know that's
probably extreme, but I was at the end of my patience with that machine.  I
hope you and Babydoll like your new place!  Take it easy, Connie C.
