Robert, I just did a Google search to see if I could come up with anything that has been missed. Near the top of the list it already shows your original PCTT post as well as Sandi's initial reply. I guess we gotta get this thing figured out for sis so that others can find the fix when they Google the problem in the future. :O) After reading some of the other listings, my simplest conclusion is that the bundled software is faulty at best. The various printer, scanner, copier and fax functions, along with its ability to be used as a network unit for each of the same functions , doesn't depend on this bundled software for it to work. In other words, she is not tied to using only the software that came with the unit. All of this devices abilities should work using nothing more than the latest drivers from the HP site. The only real loss would be that the bundled junk has a decent interface that places all of the functions together in the same window, making access to anything she'd want to do relatively easy. My suggestion, which probably requires you to go to her place, would be to uninstall the bundle completely and test the functions without it. If there's anything that requires an easier way to access, seek out (or simply ask here) if there are any known good free alternatives for what you need. Again, most of what the unit can do can be done without ANY special software installed (HP proprietary or otherwise). The unit's driver is what controls most of the user changable settings. At the very least, uninstall the bundle and update the unit's driver tot he latest available at the HP site. Then, go on a discovery tour of the driver's capabilities.
