Logitech Z-640 Those are the ones I bought. Excellent sound for the money. 5.1 surround sound system (meaning 2 front speakers, 2 back speakers, 1 center speaker and 1 subwoofer). The .1 indicates a subwoofer. 50.5 watts total. The subwoofer does 23 watts and each other channel does 5.5 watts each. Unless you're looking for something EXTRAORDINARY to blast REALL REALLY load, these are more than enough. But, if you do get greedy, there's also the Z-680. But, for the 680, be prepared to spend about $400. The 640 cost me $40 with a rebate. The regular price now at Besy Buy is $79. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051384543006&skuId=4750228&type=product Hope this helps. ---Troth ----- Original Message ----- From: HandsomeBlck@xxxxxxx To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, August 29, 2003 2:24 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- External speakers for laptop.. Hello all, I'd like to upgrade the sounds coming from my laptop. I played an mp3, and it sounded "mono". At CompUSA today, I saw several speaker systems that appealed to me i.e., labtec, soundblaster (50w w/woofer). What are the pitfalls and/or precautions with connecting external speakers?
