The proxy server is the app on your own computer. You're downloading the
mail into the software, the software checks the mail for spam, then OE grabs
it from the program with the new header info (SPAM marked). Just like NAV
does for checking mail for viruses.

Separate........frankly, I've never been a fan of the proxy type programs. =
Not sure I have a rational reason for that - just don't like them. I
think=
it may be a deep seated distrust of having my mail go through some proxy=
 server other than my ISP.

ASD works as a separate program, and tells me what's on the server WITHOUT=
downloading the mail. Some SPAM programs simply download the mail to the=
SPAM program. Everything ASD does is done on the sever, and I like that. =
I can also cut and paste from there, which helps in sending notices to=
 government offices, etc. <G>

=A0 | =A0 Hi Troth,
=A0 | =A0 I think it is better than MailWasher. It sorts out the spam I
=A0 | =A0 believe based on the collective experience of all the owners of
=A0 | =A0 0Spam. After less than a week my spam is down 98%. I highly
=A0 | =A0 recommend it. They also have a huge forum listed at their

=A0 | =A0 Is this one like Mailwasher? Or, does it just mark the possible
