Oh yeah, I LOVE encouraging folks to ask questions they think might be seen as 'dumb'! There seem to be so many of them and the fact that most people are afraid to look like a fool keeps a LOT of folks from ever learning the answers. Maybe I'll start promoting an official "Dumb Questions Day" for the first day of every month. I'd bet if people got some of these nagging queries out into the open, it would help people a lot more more than following along with some of the less typical topics we usually discuss here. :O) And now back to your question: Email sent from or received by your system is normally checked for bugs by most modern AV programs. Some AV apps take it a step farther by certifying that the program has 'done its thing'. The certification is usually in the form of an additional 'signature' added to the bottom of the outgoing posts as seen below. ----------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG - http://www.avg.com Version: 8.0.169 / Virus Database: 270.6.21/1670 - Release Date: 9/13/2008 12:50 PM ----------------------------------- There have been issues reported recently where AVG was adding this certification in the form of an attachment if the plugin options weren't set properly (for example, install AVG, set up the plugin options correctly for the default email app and then change to a different default email program). The end result is that the body of the messages was being erroneously removed the moment the post left the email program's Outbox. Not good! For folks suffering with this, they could get around it by turning off that certification. They could eliminate it by downloading/installing the latest version & definition files and, during the install, go into the Add/Remove Components section and make sure that the correct plugin is selected (and no others!).
