Hi Scott:
I check my updates a few times a week lately.
But my program doesn't have a lot of options.
There are 3 boxes I can check with my free version for "incoming mail":
Scan incoming mail for viruses
Certify incoming messages
With attachmentse only

I have the first two checkmarked.

When it does a check of my pc, it does the heuristics
thing.
