Lumi Team members,
Susan has confirmed we can park in the Bus Loading Zone and
meet in the Education Building tonight at 7pm.
If you don't know where that is, please let me know.
It's the building you went to to get hot drinks last year.
If you haven't already told me you are attending the Walk Thru tonight,
please do so now. Susan needs to know who is coming.
And Please wear your name badge.
I'd suggest a red flashlight, maybe a while light as well,
and if you need it, something to take notes on and with.
You will be walking quite a distance, so wear comfortable shoes.
And BYO drinks. It will be 103 outside at 7pm.
I want to shoot photos of the new set up locations before dark.

Good morning those of you wanting to do the Lumi events....
We are meeting* tomorrow night*, just got confirmation from Susan, at*
7pm at DBG*. If you want to do the walk through, please be there just
before 7pm, and walk over to the Education Building. If you don't know
where that is, let me see if i can find a map to help you.
At the moment, Susan is getting permission for us to park in the Bus
Loading Zone. So, right now, parking is in the Bus Loading Zone but watch
your email in case that location for parking changes.
If you are doing the Lumi events and want to give input on where we set up
our scopes this year, you may wish to attend this walk through. It is not
mandatory. I just want some input, and you don't have to stay long.
Here's the plan, that i got approved by Susan.
We arrive by 7pm and meet in the Education Building.
We then walk to the NAT - Native American Trail - and scout out, while it
is still dusk, 3 locations.
We need 2 scopes and a presenter location that's big enough for 2
presenation tables and lights to be hung.
After we pick the locations, if someone is with us who remembers the
locations we used up on Space Mountain, and would like to walk up there
with those who have asked to see the Space Mountain area, that would be
helpful to have someone do that and take Roger up there, for me.
We are setting up in the Top of the Hill location with one scope, and on
the Observing Deck with a 2nd scope.
At the top of the hill we can fit a large dob like Roger's scope, so any
scope can go there, but for the Overlook area, it has to be a smaller scope
so that there is room for people to get in and out of the overlook area to
view. 2 years ago when we set up here, we had 2 scopes in the overlook
area, which was ok with smaller scopes. If we only have 1 scope this year,
they can decide where, within the over look area, they wish to set up their
scope. I do suggest along a railing to keep people from getting in the way
of the view and being able to make a line that circles into and out of the
overlook area for viewing.
If you have done SM previously and you prefer the Ramada location, I think
i will open that up too, as a choice because i know Bruce and Don liked the
Ramada area for set up.
The top of the hill sees mostly to the North and East.
The Ramada can't see East very well, so it would be mostly North and West.
And the Overlook can do all around, less the mountain area to the South.
After Dusk has gone away, and it is darker, i'd like to go back to the 2
scope locations we chose along the NAT trail and draw the night sky onto
the sky chart i will bring with me. Once you have seen what you came to
see, and given your input, you may depart from DBG. I will probably be
there about an hour after dark finishing up what i want to get done before
leaving.
I need to know* who is doing the Walk through tomorrow*, as Susan wants
to know how many cars will be parking at DBG so she can tell us where to
park tomorrow night. So, reply to this email and let me know you are
attending this Walk Though. Thanks.
