Tuesday night, Feb 21st, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Anthem Civic Building, there
will be Kai Staats film presentation on LIGO sponsored by the Desert Foothills
Astronomy Club. Kai was a former President of PAS, and Dan Heim, the current
President of DFAC has invited our club to this event. It should be very
enlightening on detecting gravitational waves. Kai will speak to PAS next
October 5th at our monthly PAS meeting and present updated information. If you
have the time and interest, please try to attend this event.
Saturday, February 25th, ASU Tempe Campus will be having its annual open door
to science programs and other academic programs. If you missed the PAS field
trip to ASU a few months ago, when we visited the meteorite center and the
Lunar Recon Orbital Camera center and the Mars Rover center and the Planetary
and Space Science center and Marston 3D theater, this is your chance to see
these and dozens more for free. If you have children, bring them along since
the demos are for people of all ages.
The event is from 3 to 9 pm. All the events require tickets, that are free,
that you can order online at opendoor.asu.edu.
