Hi Vick.
What with the price of the traditional screen readers being out of many peoples' reach, it wouldn't surprise me if, in the next five years or so, many people will gravitate to Narrator or some other much less expensive and perhaps free screen reader that will do the job as well as or maybe even better than Jaws or Window Eyes.
After all, Apple has done an amazing job with Voice-over and it comes with no extra charge.

Hi, Pete:

Recently I read an article in the Flying Blind Top Tech Tidbits
e-newsletter that claimed that Narrator had been improved a great deal
and that NVDA is now the second best screen reader to Narrator.
According to the author of the article, JAWS placed a distant third
place and I don't think he even bothered to mention other screen
readers.

Like me, some of you may be subscribed to that blind tech email list
called Tech Talk.  Someone posted the article there too.  In short,
many in the group agreed that Narrator was a very good screen reader
now and can at least be used in conjunction with other screen readers.

I don't have a Windows 10 computer yet.  But if I get one, I hope
Narrator has improved a lot.  If so, I'll use it with NVDA and I'll
forget all about JAWS.  I've been reading that the latest version of
JAWS isn't that good.

Yeah but when was that, Linda?  I hear that there have been major
improvements to Narrator recently.

Last time I checked in with Narrator, it had a horrid voice.  It was worth
the price for me to pay for Window-Eyes, which I bought with the
installation of my current computer. I thank my family for the help they've

offered me in getting what I need.  I feel so blessed that my family can
afford these things for me with the Special Needs Fund my brother has set up

for my special adaptive and other needs.

Hi, Vic,

I haven't tried narrator as a screen reader yet but I'll give it a shot
and let you all know how it works.

Hi, Rosie:

Congratulations on your new Windows 10 computer!  Try using Narrator,
the built-in screen reader.  I've read it's very good, better than
JAWS!  I've read that NVDA is a close second to Narrator as a screen
reader.

Hi, everyone,

Just wanted to let you know I got a new windows 10 computer and really
like it so-far. It's pretty fast compared to my old computer.
