I did hear about the weapons and booby traps in the house so he was
definitely planning something big.

I'm sure that was an excuse to do what he wanted to do all along. There were
lots of weapons and booby traps in his condo, so you know he was planning
something.

Hi, Linda,

I heard that name mentioned on the news too. Apparently he and the female
suspect were married and had a six-month-old baby girl. From what I understand,
they took the baby to the girl’s mother’s house and told her they had to go
to the doctor which was a boldface lie. This Siad guy was angry about something
and got his friends to help him carry out his so-called mission. I can’t help
but wonder if he was angry about the Christmas party being held in the staff
conference room.

I’m trying to keep my spirits up but at this time it’s really hard. I
realize that there are still good people out there but it makes me angry that
innocent people died when they didn’t do anything wrong. All they wanted to
do was have a Christmas party and they paid for it with their lives.

I heard the name Siad Ferek or however he spelledit, mentioned on the news.
My friend has heard the news this morning and says that the person they thought
was a third suspect wasn’t involved. We’ve just gotta tighten up gun laws
in this country and force especially people with known mental illness to better
checks prior to them being able to get guns. An awful lot of troubled people
in our midst, but Curt, you are so right, there are so many good people, too,
and as hard as it is sometimes, I try to keep my spirits on how good so many
people in this world are.

Hi, Vicky,

I’m so glad to hear that there were no developmentally disabled people
involved but any kind of shooting is tragic. I wouldn’t be surprised if these
guys are tied to ISIS.

It’s my understanding that it was a Health Department Christmas party and
no developmentally disabled people were involved. This room was a community
room and the rest of the building has keycard security. That’s why it was so
easy for the shooters to enter and exit so quickly. They were also I believe
the news man here said, 500 feet from I-10 which also gave them easy access. I
also saw an email saying that ISIS was celebrating the shooting today. So,
maybe these people are tied to them. The guy’s name is Siad Faruk. Didn’t
hear the lady’s name, or the suspect they have in custody.

Hi, Linda,

I'm beginning to wonder too if earth has seen its last days. The way things
are going, it sure seems like it to me. My heart is very heavy today because
my sister Lillian is developmentally disabled and those poor people there
were too.

As I had an appointment to get a cortizone injection in my shoulder and
could
only estimate how long the appointment would take or how long it would take
Paratransit to get back to me, I didn't start hearing about the horrible
shootings until about 5 p.m., although I got a cell phone notification
around 11
a. m. that something horrific had happened there. Curt and Karen, I prayed
you
were far away from it all and am glad to know you're both fine.

Scott Pelly, with CBS Evening News and 60 Minutes, made a very good
observation
on his show tonight. Since June, when the nine people at the Charleston,
North
Carolina church were shot, they've had to start their reporting about seven
or
eight weeks in a row with some kind of gun-related tragedy in this country,
but
this is the first time that there was more than a lone shooter involved. I
know
the FBI isn't ruling out terrorism but they just don't want to speculate
right
now until they've been able to glean more information. Really makes me
wonder
how much longer we human beings have left on this planet given all the
random
shootings. I hear about it all the time in Oakland, but Alameda has a much
stricter and better manned police force, so you don't see the homelessness,
the
downtrodden, and the black-on-black fighting as you do in Oakland. Scares
the
woollies out of me, I'll tell ya!!
