Is the only way to circumvent this problem be to backup immediately after
loads?

Yes, is one reason why I don't like nologging operations in production.

Question: Would flash recovery assist in recovery when datafiles are
deleted or corrupted?

Assuming you mean flashback database: No, as it relies on regular
transactions, if the files no longer can be read or written, flashback
database cannot use them either.

We had a database with some tablespaces marked as nologging

Sys admin. copied files from backup on top of those files (hot backup)

Tablespaces with "nologging" complianed about needing media recovery.
