I agree- there are cases where you have very large SGA's, and due to the granule size oracle will ignore a setting for redo log buffer and increase it. For instance, 200gb sga on Linux will cause a 128mb redo log buffer, because the granule size will be set to 512mb. In order to reduce redo log buffer you have to force the granule size to be smaller using an undocumented parameter.
