RE: dba group already exists in linux

Jared,

You're not using some sort of centralized authentication mechanism, such
as LDAP, NIS+, etc. are you?

Thanks,

Matt

Try grpck, and for good measure pwck.

        GRPCK(8) System Management Commands
        GRPCK(8)

        NAME
grpck - verify integrity of group files

Thanks for the suggestions, though that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I have seen this before, just never pursued it.

As I am building a new server, and not a test box, I would like to do it
properly.

So far, no luck.

strace of groupadd didn't reveal anything either.
