Control_file_record_keep_time only sets the time after which a record is 
eligible to be reused, it's not a setting for when it is automatically deleted. 
 For example, you could run a backup today and then not run any other backups 
for 10 years, and when you checked 10 years from now, the backup you ran today 
would still be there in the controlfile even with the default setting of 7 
days.  It's only overwritten if needed.  There are few known bugs for 
performance problems related to v$rman_status - just search for the view name 
on metalink.
