Why not write a dead session detection script that looks for and clears these
sessions out and schedule it to run every X minutes?

Or maybe create an on-demand script that is launched via a web application or
by the operators.

Subject: Tool recommendation

I have a few business users (who can't really do SQLplus), runs adhoc data
pulls/validation.
Currently they connect to the db using MS Access/ODBC to view the data.
Constantly they run into situations where their client session dies without
disconnecting at the database. If they restart Access, until someone clears
their database session, Access doesn't seem to respond.

I am wondering if there are free or low cost tools which is more stable..
Would Oracle Apex help in this scenario?

Thanks in advance
