Yes it is, and it is a really good idea. That way, your temporary blocks will 
not
only be protected by redo log, they will also generate undo information, as 
their old values will be saved in undo segments. That will keep otherwise idle 
process 
like LGWR busy and warm for the situation when you need it. That will also make 
your sorts 
much safer and will have a clear effect on performance. 
Blocks in tempfiles are not protected by either redo or undo, which means that 
in case of
the instance failure the contents of your temporary work segments will be lost 
for ever.
Undo records and redo log information will kindly preserve those segments for 
posterity.
