Ora-19624 during rman restore

Using rman with catalog information in the control files.
I am trying to make a copy of my production database to another
machine. When restoring, rman is choking on the largest data file which =
is about
2.4 gb. The error stack is as follows:

ulimit -a for the oracle user shows unlimited file size. Also, I have a
development database on this box which has a 2.1 gb data file, so I know
that oracle can handle large files.
Interestingly, this restore worked about three weeks ago. The only =
changes since
then are that I applied the January 2005 upgrade to the target system =
(production
patch is scheduled for tonight) and that the data file in question may =
have been=20
increased in size by about 0.3 gb.
