Need some ideas, WIN vs. LINUX... Same process on Win takes much less temp space than on Linux

So, I need some thoughts to bounce around here. Running 10.2 Standard
edition on Win and 10.2 Enterprise edition on Linux RH 5. I have the same
database, the same data. Building a Materialzed View on the Win box never
requires the temporary tablespace be more than about 500mb. While on the
LINUX box we are gobbling up about 175GB of space. Any idea why we might see
such a vast difference?
