Thanks both Peter and Niall.
This is a perfect example of "Need to talk with Oracle Sales - and get 
it in writing" as I have seen situations where customers have been 
charged minimums based on CPU socket for Standard Edition.

I wonder whether the difference is in 'regional misinterpretation'.

In any case, I shall be going back to my colleagues in Oracle to get a 
fresh clarification as I will soon be needing a documented answer myself.
