I just remembered that I actually opened an SR for this same problem back in
July and at that time I was told that development was working on compatibility
with IE8 in the next release of Metalink which was scheduled to be released in
August or September, so apparently they're a little behind schedule, but it
sound like IE8 will be supported pretty soon.
