Linux OS patching, how to make sure acceptation and production are using the same patch binaries

Hi,
While searching for a way to make sure that linux acceptation and production
servers are patched using the same binaries, I came across an old Oracle-L post
(//www.freelists.org/post/oracle-l/OS-Patches,8) in which a reference was
made to yet another (older) post which had a solution of how to do this.
Unfortunately there was no link to this older post and I can't find it anymore.
Does someone has the url to this post or know which method was described?
