Could well be something simple..... telnet in to the unix server....type tty and get the tty port of your connection type who -u and see what IP address your telnet session is export DISPLAY=3Dthatip:0.0 NOT the IP you get running ipconfig on your PC... I do this quite regularly and it works even though my home pC is behind a router giving me a 192.168.xxx.xxx address The unix servers are showing 165.15.xxx.xxx and that is what I export Also use ssh IF the UNIX server is setup with ssh Ssh is a little easier if your client is setup properly and I use putty a 'freeware' ssh client...works great also -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DENNIS WILLIAMS Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 10:48 AM To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: FW: Installer question Thanks David, Stephen It sounds like this is probably a question for the networking gurus at the company. Fortunately I didn't badly need the installer working today. I really appreciate your help in confirming that is wasn't just something simple. Use an ssh tunnel with X11 forwarding enables, all x traffic will then go through your tunnel to you pc. All you need is an x server on you pc (cygwin, xwin, exceed etc.) On Sun, 12 Dec 2004 16:34:58 +0000, stephen booth <stephenbooth.uk@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > On Sun, 12 Dec 2004 10:23:09 -0600, DENNIS WILLIAMS > Can you clarify the situation? -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
