This artcle seems to say: 'I heard about this from some people, it sounds like a good idea but I haven't tried it for myself'. Not advice in which I would place implicit trust. Personally, I use histograms when I can demonstrate that they are beneficial. They take extra adminstration, extra time to collect, and add extra parse time. They have to pay for that with improved performance. regards _________________________ David Kurtz Go-Faster Consultancy Ltd. tel: +44 (0)7771 760660 fax: +44 (0)7092 348865 web: www.go-faster.co.uk mailto:david.kurtz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Book: PeopleSoft for the Oracle DBA: http://www.psftdba.com Next Go-Faster Seminar: PeopleSoft for the DBA, London UK, October PeopleSoft DBA Forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/psftdba > -----Original Message----- > From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Charlotte Hammond > Sent: 16 August 2005 12:34 > To: ORACLE-L > Subject: Histograms > > > Hi All, > > Can I poll the list on their views on the use of > histograms?
