Ian,
What version of the thin client are you using? I just discovered
recently that the thin client supports using TNSNames aliases as
of 10.2.x.

I haven't had our developers make any changes to utilize this
yet, but it looks like it would be an option for you that would
eliminate some added complexities.

which are unsurmountable. I'm not in favor of this. It seems
