Folks

1 more issue

There exist 2 Target partitions each of Size 400 GB in which the
respective 700 GB Table needs to be exported using Datapump.

Additionally a High Value of PARALLEL parameter is preferred to Speed up
the 700 GB Export.

What Value of PARALLEL is Advisable for an 8 CPU machine connected to an
EMC Storage Box?

Are the following parameters & Syntax Advisable? If so, will it restrict
the PARALLEL parameter specification to a MAX value of 2 only?

DUMPFILE=/Partition1:Tbl_Part%U.dmp, /Partition2:Tbl_Part%U.dmp

FILESIZE=350G

PARALLEL=8

Can /Partition1 & /Partition2 be explicitly Specified? I am unable to
follow the meaning of the word "directory_object"

Is the Directory Object an Environment Variable which needs to be set on
the O.S.?

Cheers

Folks

Using Datapump need to export & import a 700 GB Table having a LONG
Column (containing JPEGs).

Any Rough Estimate on Time needed for the same?

What best practices / parameters are Advisable to speed up the same?

Any Links will help.

Config:-

Oracle 10gR2

Solaris 10

SunFire - 8 CPUs

RAM 32 GB
