1. I have not used Oracle's migration scripts, I just thought this way I
could start 9i clean. So if there is any problem, it's 9i problem, not 8i or
migration problem.

2. Also I can afford some down time during exp/imp.

I would say to fully test your applications on your test 9i system
before
you migrate. Some sql query plan can change due to oracle's internal
optmizer change. Also I would use oracle exp/imp to move schema data.
