Many thanks for the replies. I dropped a TAR in and got the quite
unexpected, vague answer, sometime at the end of August, possibly.
Of course it came with the obligatory "This can changed at Oracle's
discretion...blah blah" warning.

At the time then I had asked the same question about 8.1.7 on Linux (Logging
the TAR) Oracle analyst answer was: there is no exact date of releasing
8.1.7 on Linux platform. Day after that 8.1.7 appears on otn.oracle.com. .
It is seems that it is TOP secret and Oracle development/delivery department
is keeping it in secret for Oracle employees as well. There are a few people
how know then new release will be available for sure. . Local Oracle
technical representative mailed to country Oracle users that at the end of
this summer 10g R2 will available on most popular platforms, presently.
Probably you have to wait not so long. . J.
