Hi Katty, Thank you for your information. In fact AIX 5L can run both 32-bit and 64-bit. Also 64-bit on AIX 5.3 TL04 can be setup as COMMITED or APPLIED. Based on your explanation, so for installation of database tier and apps tier on the same machine, the 64-bit should be setup as APPLIED and not COMMITTED which is from my understanding COMMITTED means that AIX only run on 64-bit mode. Am I correct ? Regards, Hananto. On 6/20/07, kathy.robb <kathy.robb@xxxxxxx> wrote:
Hi Hananto, Actually, for AIX, only 64 bit is certified for the database. AIX 5.3MLcan be installed so that you can run the 32 bit apps, and the 64 bit database on a single node. Take a look at the certification matrix in metalink. Here is some of the information that it contains – please take note of the RDBMS information stating 64 bit *ONLY* – and review all of those notes. They will help you set up your AIX environment appropriately. *General Notes For E-Business Suite 11i and Earlier On IBM AIX based Systems:* *Release Information:* - 11.5.9, and higher, Rapid Install is ONLY certified on AIX 5L *O/S Information:* - Oracle products are certified for AIX5L on all servers that IBM supports with AIX5L. It rather depends on how many memory you have got on you Linux box. Does it support 64bits and if there will some other 32bit processes running on DB server. If you have got brand new 64bit Intel/ADM server with 8-16-32GB memory. If Concurrent Managers are runing on others servers (as those can't be run on 64 platform). then go with split DB Apps configuration and use 64 bit Linux for running DB part. Apps still have to be running on 32 bits platform.
