Aren't the resulting "color images" actually pseudo (false) red-green color? It was placed here for us to carry out an ancillary study for AREDS 2. We've also done about twenty FAs on it. When everything works out, the photographs are stunning in both color, autofluorescence, and FA, with an impressive 200 degree field side-to-side. It's unlike any camera I've used, especially in re: to positioning the patient. They have to press their face up against a rubber mat at a 45 degree angle (like looking through a keyhole) to get as close to the parabolic mirror as possible. This is problematic for a portion of our patient population. One of many good tips I've gotten is to not use the chin rest. Instead, the patient's forehead, cheek, and nose are the points of contact against the mat, a bit like the legs of a tripod. Make sure they are sitting straight up and not leaning in. Finally, every Optomap image will have lashes in the lower half of the image. Get used to them. The field of view is still greater than any flash camera. John ******** John C.
