I use the 450 plus also, and that artifact seems to be the nature of the beast, the baffle that is meant to avoid reflections, worse with darker fundii , myopes, smaller pupiks, and cataracts.... if you have a patient with several of those qualites, it gets really noticeable. You can try reseating the filters to be sure the are all squarely seated in position. .especially the magnification lever. The docs hate it, don't like having to mentally dismiss it as an artifact. I try to have the patient look a hair off to the side or up or down n to displace it out of the fovea, or area being examined. It also makes for lousy montages, and trying to photoshop them out makes for a manipulated image, a no no in medicine. When we next have our Preventative Maintenance, I always ask for them to try to calibrate the lenses and sensors to minimize it. Lack of calibration is a factor in how noticeable it is.
