Cynthia, you should not be concerned about whether a "tech" can handle
Microperimetry. Both the MP-1 and the MIAI are quite easy to use, no more
complex than doing fundus photography or OCT. Well within the realm of a
reasonably trained tech or imager to perform.

The larger question, as with all diagnostic tests, is not whom is performing
the test by title or caste, but more importantly, is the procedure being
performed by a well trained individual and with competent results?

We use the Nidek MP-1. Both photographers and Techs are using it here but
because of the joystick handling I think the learning curve is faster for a
photographer than a tech. I also found that a tech that have learned using the
MP-1, learned fundus photography faster than a tech that had not.

In general I would say it is not a difficult unit to operate and most will
handle it fairly quickly.

Does anyone out there perform Microperimetry? What system do you use? Is it
more commonly performed by photographers or OA/Technicians or both?

I heard we are possibly acquiring one and am wondering who is best suited to
perform this task.
