I have been using 2.5cc’s of 25% for two decades Once I went SLO with the Heidelberg I noticed, usually in cases where extravasation happened and only 1cc of dye transmitted, that the images were surprisingly good, depending on the patient. I still use 2cc 25% for my Spectralis angiography; however, if I only get 1cc I know that clinically, in general, the images are still useful and do not warrant a reinjection. I would not have said that in the past with a conventional fundus camera. As I have said in the past, I embrace the concept of patient management for nausea. Using 2.5cc’s has not been an issue with us. True emesis happens maybe 4-5 times a year. I cannot even track those statistics they are so low. Be professional but relaxed. Keep your patient relaxed. Do some slow deep breathing. It works! I never purposely only use 1cc to “save money” . Frankly, the solution isn’t that much money to slice and dice it that way. Although, LOL, I HAVE seen practices that cut their alcohol wipes in half! I guess that would fall into this bucket On that same note, I always use Genteal when performing immersion biometry. Yes it costs more, but my patient’s are worth it. And it ain’t that much more… come on! I don't know how to post an original thread, but what is the with trend of only injecting 1-2 cc's (10%) of FA dye using traditional fundus cameras ? I see this almost everywhere I go, it is refreshing to come across a handful of photographers doing it old school - though seemingly rare. Is it cost - digital enhancement fallback - fear of nausea - what's up with that ? I see many-a-syringes with 2-3ccs of dye getting chucked.
