by the way, this is what would happen if I were to make changes to my old
Winstation program (OIS/Merge now)

Subject: [optimal] From Denice in SF OIS/Merge database question

· We have a 20+year old database in the OIS/Merge system

· Many “unclean” diagnoses gathered over the years.

· My understanding is that we CAN edit this database; remove the “could
be this” kind of diagnoses created

· We could, on a singular, agonizingly time consuming basis, call up
each patient and edit their diagnosis under utilities

· However, once we do that, we could no longer find that particular
patient who was tagged to that diagnosis

· Given that we have multiple ways of searching for our teaching cases
by diagnosis OUTSIDE of the OIS/Merge system, what would be the harm to clean
up our Diagnosis list to the essential 30 or so we use regularly; accepting
that we would not LOSE the data- merely the ability to find that particular
study by THAT diagnosis

· Am I correct in my perceived knowledge of this?

Thanks
D.
