RESPONSE FROM ANOTHER REPAIRER We heard from Australia. The repairer is Nigel Herring and the company name is Pentronics. I've forwarded his information to Richard Oehm because there were some questions about available parts. I'm sure they will get back to us very soon with details once they are worked out. Thank you to those users who wrote to Mr. Herring asking him to write and become a part of the Optacon project. WHERE OPTACONS AREN'T We now know that there aren't any Optacons at the Hadley School in Illinois or the Sight Center in Cleveland Ohio. Please write to me or to the list and let us know where else Optacons aren't. Even a negative answer alerts somebody to the fact that we are looking for Optacons. OPTACON INFORMATION ON OTHER LISTS One of the respondents not on our list, let me know that the vicug list has some messages in its archives concerning the Optacon date forward from 1991. I bet other list have such messages also. We might find more Optacon users. POSTING TO OTHER LISTS Don't be afraid of incurring the temporary wrath of list mederators etc. if you post messages about the Optacon project to unrelated lists. In fairness though, don't forget to include the words "Off-Tipic" in the subject line especially if the general topic of the list is totally unrelated. SURVEY RE-POST Tomorrow I'm going to re-post the two surveys to the list. If any listers has not completed the survey appropriate to themselves I encourage them to do so. I also encourage borrowing the text of the early paragraphs of the Potential User survey to use in posting to other sources. Speaking of sources, don't forget to look through your e-address book for contacts to make. A SURVEYLESS DAY This is the first day in five weeks that no new surveys have been added to the count. I have no reason to think that we have tapped out our sources for users. I hope that the re-posting of the surveys will encourage listers to try again to reach more users, potential users, and those all important Optacon corpses. Excuse me while I post an off-topic message to an unrelated list.
