Yesterday, my husband had to call the billing department at a local hospital. They sent him a bill for some tests he had done at our doctor's office. The bill indicated they had not submitted the charges to Medicare and his supplemental insurance company. So, he called to talk with someone. Of course, they wanted to know his Medicare number and supplemental insurance number, as well as the group number on the card. So, while he was on the phone, I looked at the insurance card and got both numbers. It really was a lot faster than any scanner or even the KNFB Reader could have handled the information. The lady on the phone was very interested in how we were finding the information. He mentioned that we're both blind and I was using a kind of scanner to read the insurance card. She asked more about it and he explained what the Optacon is, how it works, and that it's no longer being made. She was quite impressed. So, we got the problem straightened out, thanks to the trusty Optacon. Cindy "Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then...find the way."
