Apparently 15 million people couldn't wait. Or maybe they would rather invest that $27 in the bundle, which provides a bit more than 13 hours of content. And why did you fail to mention all of the other ways you can watch The Walking Dead, including the AMC website? Oh wait, the recent episodes require your MVPD authentication credentials for the AMC website. Could it be that there are many ways to monetize TV content? The reality is that many people will still make appointments to watch the "premiere" of some content. The networks may have lost half of their audience, but the other half is still pretty big and valuable to advertisers. What the article you posted demonstrates clearly is that the content conglom will sell their programs to many middlemen, who in turn offer many ways to pay for it. Exclusivity can be fleeting - but the article demonstrates the value people place on seeing stuff sooner rather than later.
