Anyone catch the West Wing show on NBC last night? It was
interesting. The two topics covered during the show were
moving software jobs offshore and the FCC's national cap
on broadcast station ownership.

The offshoring topic was covered intelligently, I thought.
The broadcaster ownership cap, where CJ Craig was on some
sort of crusade, was not. It was the standard simplistic
nonsense where somehow the greater "reach" of a TV
company was equated with reducing the number of viewpoints
available to the public.

Interestingly, when someone told CJ that he got all his
news from CNN, she didn't stop to think that CNN's "reach"
is *well* over 39 percent of the population, and there's
no FCC ruling to restrict it. Instead, she continued
fussing over the 39 percent.

Wouldn't it have been nice to get an intelligent
discussion of both topics instead of just one.
