Not directly related to the topic, but still LPTV. Here in Silicon Valley, the local digital LPTV station KAXT-LD is doing some interesting stuff. They have a 15 channel (12 A/V and 3 audio only) multiplex. Here's the TSReader data and bitstream (captured before they added the 3 audio only channels). http://www.w6rz.net/kaxt.htm http://www.w6rz.net/kaxt.ts Ron Manfredi, Albert E wrote:
By the way, the reason I keep bringing up real-world examples of SFNs is not to suggest that other possibilties don't exist, but to try to get the point across that the more complicated options are avoided by everyone. And for good reason. If you think, for example, that you can cover a typical US market with 1 KW ERP towers in an SFN, think again. It would take a dense mesh of such towers to cover a large area, and the mutual interference between towers will make coverage beyond the dense mesh very dubious. You're talking GPS-synchronized towers and a tower in close proximity to any likely reception site. It's possible to do this, but hardly something the cash-poor LPTV stations would credibly undertake. IMO. Bert
