You missed the part about, "if the country uses 16-QAM rather than
64-QAM," (paraphrased). Which is why France is now being considered the
last hope for DVB-H. They use 64-QAM.

I suppose, equating 8-VSB with 64-QAM, that would not be a bad analogy.
But I still think that more can be done with 8T-VSB receivers wrt
dynamic training, which would lead to decent mobile reception.

The push to DVB-T2 is primarily for greater spectral efficiency for HD
programming, and the priority is therefore to fixed receivers. As also
stated in those slides from the RAI Research guys.
