A few more sites to check out with lots of powerful photos sure to spark some convos in your classes. http://www.boredpanda.com/must-see-historic-moments/ http://sagesse.eddenya.com/index.php/sante-et-sciences/3402-the-50-pictures-in-perfect-timing I'm curious if any of you have done something beyond a basic "talk about what you see here" activities. My ideas so far: - Silent chalk talk: print some out and put around the room and have kids write and respond to others' opinions -give a title to the pic -guess the five w's of the pic -pick 3 pics and create a story that uses all three -tense specific questions: (describe what happened/what could happen next/If I were there I would...) -find your own awe-inspiring photo and bring it in- present it -who do you think the photographer was? why was he there? how does he feel? -picture sort: group similar photos by scene, time, people, etc. -maybe a 2wk bell ringer activity with a new photo and question each day? Turn this into a journal with a reflection on the power of a picture... -teacher describes a pic and sts guess which one it is (then can be done in pairs) -one student describes a pic while another draws it I'm looking for something even more interactive. Is there a protocol for reacting to a photo? And, any ideas for just clicking through these photos on the projector? Have a great week.- Lori -- *Lori Leedy*English Language Development/Spanish Crater Renaissance Academy 541-494-6329
