My scrub-jay sighting in Lakeview was first week of October

Thanks, Mike, for sharing the eBird map. Two of those records are mine,
based on careful observation (I will have to add more details to my old
eBird reports, now that the bird is going to be elevated to species status).

Let me reiterate again: These are the ONLY observations of what I firmly
believe to have been Woodhouse's Jays that I've managed to come up with in
over 20 years of specifically looking for this "form" in eastern Oregon.
Both happened in mid-September, so it is quite possible that they involved
post-breeding wanderers that had strayed into appropriate habitat, rather
than local breeding birds.

I still don't know whether Woodhouse's Scrub-Jays breed in Oregon at all,
or how often they occur here. Hopefully, now that it is about to become a
"countable" species, people will finally pay more attention and we can
learn more about their occurrence. Until then, I agree that we need to
treat all reports with particular caution and a healthy dose skepticism.
